The Rocky Mountain Gun Owners - a tiny splinter group so far into Cloud
Cuckoo Land that it claims the NRA is "anti-gun" - helped radical rightist
Pam Groeger beat Bob McFadden in a race for the seat vacated by term-limited
Tambor Williams, R-Greeley.

Among other dirty tricks, Groeger backers illegally put her yard signs on
McFadden's lawn and then hid with a camera. When McFadden removed Groeger's
yard signs from his lawn, they photographed him and put out flyers accusing
him of vandalizing her yard signs. The scam won the primary for Groeger, but
outraged Republicans elected Democrat Jim Riesberg Tuesday.

RMGO boss Dudley Brown used similar dirty tricks in 2000 to defeat Linda
Morton in the Republican state Senate primary in Lakewood. GOP moderates
then helped elect Democrat Deanna Hanna to the seat - giving Democrats
control of the Senate for the first time since 1960. The Dudster's legacy
lives on as Hanna won a second four-year term Tuesday.
